Juicy, tender, and with a healthy twist – these patties are pure comfort food. Instead of using bread or potatoes like in classic recipes, we’re using rolled oats. They replace the bread, add a nice texture, and give the patties a unique flavor. It’s a great way to change up your everyday dinner without losing any of the taste.

Directions
Step 1 – Get everything ready
Gather all your ingredients: ground chicken (or any ground meat you like—pork, beef, or a mix), onion, rolled oats, milk, egg, salt, dried basil, and vegetable oil.

Step 2 – Soak the oats
Pour the milk over the rolled oats in a small bowl. Let them sit for about 30 minutes, until the oats swell and soften.

Step 3 – Prep the onion
Peel and rinse the onion. Finely chop it, grate it, or pulse it in a blender—whatever’s easiest for you.

Step 4 – Mix the meat filling
In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, soaked oats, egg, and chopped onion. Add salt and dried basil.

Step 5 – Work the mixture well
Mix everything thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and even.

Step 6 – Firm up the mixture
Pick up the meat mixture and slap it against the bowl or the counter several times. This helps the mixture tighten up so the patties hold their shape better and come out juicier.

Step 7 – Shape the patties and prep the pan
Preheat your oven to 190°C (about 375°F). Lightly grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil. You can line it with foil if you like, but it’s not required. With damp hands, shape the mixture into round or oval patties and place them on the baking sheet.

Step 8 – Bake and serve
Bake the patties at 190°C / 375°F for 25–30 minutes, until they’re cooked through and lightly browned.
Serve hot with any side—mashed potatoes, rice, grains—or just with a big helping of fresh veggies. Enjoy!

Rolled oats are very filling and nutritious, so paired with ground meat they make these patties more wholesome and give them a new, interesting flavor.
You can swap the chicken for any ground meat you like: pork, beef, a mix, or even turkey for a leaner option. For extra‑juicy patties, use ground chicken with more dark meat—thighs instead of just breast.
